Dedication

This site is dedicated to the memory of Jeremy Glick, and the other Heroes of United Airlines Flight 93, the only one of the four hijacked planes to not reach it's intended destination of death, and destruction, on September 11, 2001.

One Of Our Own

The dust had not yet settled on the Pentagon, and the former site of the World Trade Center when the message was received on the JUDO-L discussion list.  The message which was sent by Blair Bradbury said simply "Judo Champ one of the Heroes of UA Flight 93."  The message itself, a link to a website for the NJ Newspaper known as The Record...

The Story

You have probably heard the story already, but this is a story I don't believe you can hear too often.  Especially in times like these.  The story is of a man named Jeremy Glick who called his wife to tell her that he loved her, and to confirm for himself what the men who had Hijacked the plane that he was now a passenger on. That they intended to crash the plane into a building  killing him, all of the other passengers and anyone unlucky enough to be in the building they crashed into.

Armed with only a plastic knife from the in-flight meal service, Jeremy and some of the other passengers fought to take back the plane, or at the very least to stop the hijackers from reaching their target, and perhaps taking hundreds or even thousands of other innocent lives.

Jeremy, and the other Men and Women of United Fight 93 are American Heroes in every sense of the word.  There can be no more clear an act of bravery than to sacrifice ones own life in protection of others.  Flight 93 crashed in a Pennsylvania field killing all passengers and crew.  It never reached it's intended destination believed to be Washing DC.   Hundreds or perhaps even thousands of lives were saved by the actions of these brave men and women.   Their sacrifice will be remembered.

Our Call To Action

There are three things you can do to remember this warrior, and honor the sacrifice that Jeremy made for his country.

First, look at this website, and sign it's guest book.  Judoka, and in fact all Martial Artist, and Non-Martial Artist, from around the United States and the World are asked to come here, tell other's about the site, and to tell the story of Jeremy Glick.  Use the links on the left side of the page to read the five stories of this Great American Hero.

Second, President George W Bush is considering  a motion to confer the Medal of Freedom (America's highest Civilian Honor) to Jeremy, and the other Passengers of Flight 93.  The President is a busy man however.  So we ask that you send him a little reminder so that he will know how important this idea is for helping our community to heal in the face of all that has happened.

Third, the loss of Jeremy Glick represents, a tremendous financial burden to the family that he has left behind.  USA Judo in cooperation with the USJA, have come together to create a Scholarship fun for young Emerson Glick.  We ask that you give generously to this fund.
